With some prodding from me, Scott has suggested that we form a (possibly small) subgroup dedicated to this important subject. This meant to establish standards for CCA that span the distance between code and a loadable component. It seems like a good match for the SIDL/Babel stuff.

CCA's Proper Role: Factory Components vs Real Components, David Berholdt

This is an issue that arose at the application meeting at PNNL, with Jarek. It is a question of CCA's role in defining standard interfaces.

If all is finished on the first day, it might be beneficial to get together with like-minded folk to work on sub-topics important to CCA that are too detailed for the whole CCA assembly. Suggested topics follow:

SciDAC PI Meeting (Scott, David, Rob, Lois)

Preparations for the gala event the following week.

Frameworks (Scott, Ben, Rob, Dennis, Steve ...)

• Distributed object/parallel framework integration

• SIDL-ify Ccaffeine (following items provided by Ben)

  • A lingering high-level sidl issue pointed up in this: is that of reopening (or at least allowing forward declaration of some sort) in sidl packages to allow multiparty, incremental maintenance of large standards collections such as esi and cca.

• And the interrelated:

  • Negotiating a CCA standard, vendor-independent C++-binding of of reference counting.
  • Negotiating a CCA standard, vendor-independent C++-binding generation rule for sidl array<>, particularly of objects.
• GUI component (?)

Data Object (Lori, Boyana, Jaideep ...)

• Postmortem on SC01 Data Objects: what works and what doesn't
• Lori's stuff.
